An officer with the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement division swerved to avoid getting rammed by a car veering over a highway median, footage released July 12 shows.

The Iowa DOT credited a cable median barrier with preventing injuries to patrolman Darren Reid.

This dashcam footage posted to the Iowa DOT Facebook page shows a car crashing into the cable median barrier as Reid maneuvers out of the way.
