Pilots send the MINIMUM FUEL call when, in case of any change on existing clearance, the Aircraft will land with less than final reserve fuel.

The minimum fuel call is not an emergency call, and you should not expect priority to land.

What you want to avoid is landing with less than the final reserve fuel, that's why it is good practice not to wait until the minimum diversion fuel before starting a deviation.
