Positional plagiocephaly or deformational plagiocephaly is where there is an abnormal shaped skull just because of the position of the child in the first few months. You must have seen in your house that the grandmothers insist upon massaging the head to improve the shape of the head. Now all this was traditionally thought of as problems happening because of position of the child when the child is sleeping. Now when it is significant enough we call it as positional plagiocephaly.
