(13 Mar 2018) Head of Russia's Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova dismissed concerns that low voter turnout might delegitimise this weekend's Russian presidential election.
Pamfilova said that while turnout was important, it was not the only factor to consider, and said the "quality" of the elections was more important.
The Kremlin has been worried about voter apathy and looking to boost turnout, with President Vladimir Putin making appearances, seeking to reach voters across the country.
Pamfilova added that Russia was doing "everything possible" to ensure the elections remain free from outside influence and interference.
