Richard H. Thaler, the Charles R. Walgreen Distinguished Service Professor of Behavioral Science and Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, talks about learning the news of his Nobel Prize win through a 4 a.m. phone call on Oct. 9. Thaler was awarded the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2017 “for his contributions to behavioral economics,” a relatively new field that bridges the gap between economics and psychology.
