Alright guys, we're heading into the world of polyrhythm and metric modulation. This lesson is rather long and a bit of an experiment, to get an idea of how you like 4-minute lessons compared to 10+ minutes. The longer format allows me to go more in-depth, as well as "make something for everyone". But it requires extra attention. Let me know below what you think.

In this lesson, we'll start out talking about Polyrhythm.
-We'll head into the 3:4 and the 4:3 polyrhythm, breaking them down.
-We'll add Sixteenth Notes with our hands.
-We'll apply Paradiddles to the sixteenth notes.
-We'll modulate from 3:4 to 4:3, and from 4:3 to 3:4.
-We'll finish with a polyrhythmic metric modulation challenge.

It starts off as an introduction to polyrhythms, but quickly becomes an advanced lesson. If you're new to the world of polyrhythm and/or metric modulation, don't expect this to come easy! It takes time.

I strongly suggest you attempt playing all of this to a metronome as well, to make sure your timing is right. I did not in this example, and you can hear that I do speed up slightly when modulating.

Once you get this down, it becomes a great little exercise/warm-up to play in order to get your brain and body going!

Note that for the modulation from our 3/4 to 4/4, rather than writing "4x quarter note quadruplets = 4 quarter notes" you could also write "dotted eighth note = quarter note" for the same effect/rate. However, as we're strongly focusing on the polyrhythmic aspect, it's easier to think that the quadruplets become our new pulse.
