A new study has shown that the rate of undiagnosed cases of dementia has decreased significantly. The Well-Being of the Singapore Elderly (WiSE) study tracked the 'treatment gap' and found that undiagnosed cases decreased to just over 51% in 2023, compared to over 70% in 2013. The study also revealed that caregivers of those with dementia are almost twice as likely to suffer psychological distress than those helping people with other conditions. Assoc Prof Mythily Subramaniam, one of the study's co-investigators, shared more about diagnosing dementia and supporting caregivers.
