More than 1,100 aftershocks have been recorded in the Philippines since an earthquake brought devastation to northern provinces two days ago. The death toll from Wednesday's 7.1-magnitude tremor has risen to 10. The aftershocks have driven many evacuees to camp out in open areas. Even so, they remain at risk. The government has also begun airlifting supplies to areas that remain cut off, particularly in seven isolated towns in the epicentre Abra.
