The battle of 300 at Thermopolis is now a well known event that took place in Spartan History.
But, did the battle actually exist? Was the battle fought by Spartans or was it fought by a different group of people in a completely time period?
The more we look over the evidence for this supposed historical event, the more we see little we actually know about it. We find that authors that modern day historians quote for support of this event themselves were quoting other dubious sources. There is no archeological evidence to support the Spartan battle. It gets worse when you realize a similar battle took place almost 1800 years later in the AD time period.
The scientific evidence simply isn't there to make the claim that the Spartans fought such a battle. You may not like it, but we must follow the science and the evidence.
Is the battle of 300 a phantom duplicate created by historians of the past to fill in time gaps that they themselves created while drawing up a new chronology for the mainstream? There is a lot to cover and most people are not ready for the answer to this issue.
