A profile of the National Library of Armenia, the world’s largest repository of Armenian publications. Founded in 1832, the National Library is a Yerevan landmark. Its collection today comprises over 6 million items.
In 2013, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund provided the library with the technical means to digitize its vast collection. The equipment which the Fund donated to the library, including large-format drum scanners, computers, and a server, was made possible by the support of benefactor Hovsep Tahta of Argentina.
As of early 2017, the library has digitized over 7,100 Armenian books, comprising more than 800,000 pages; as well as over 2 million pages from the Armenian press. This entire material is now available online, through the library’s website.
The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has also established an e-reading hall inside the National Library of Armenia and equipped it with computers, likewise with the financial support of Hovsep Tahta.
