Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Information
As you have seen through constant updates in the news and other locations, Coronavirus (COVID-19) is at the top of everyone’s mind. We are fortunate that Henry County and Henry County Schools currently do not have any known or presumptive cases of COVID-19, but we know that could change at any moment.
Should a confirmed case present a connection to Henry County Schools and/or a COVID-19 diagnosis occurs among our students and/or staff, you will be notified immediately. There have been no directives by the Department of Public Health for school closures in our district at this time.
Any confirmation or presumptive cases of Coronavirus, unrelated to the district, will not be reported by district officials. These cases will be reported by the Georgia Department of Public Health on their website.
It is imperative that parents and guardians ensure their contact information is up to date in Infinite Campus. Please make sure that both phone calls and email messages are allowed in the permissions section.
Our district leadership team, including Superintendent Davis and her Executive Emergency Response Team, has been in constant contact with Henry County Emergency Management Agency officials and Georgia Department of Public Health Officials to get the latest updates and recommendations.
As always, please utilize the guidance by CDC to help prevent the spread of common germs and viruses:
Wash hands frequently
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
Stay home if you are sick
Cough or sneeze into your elbow or use a tissue to cover it, then throw the tissue in the trash
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority and we will continue to utilize the guidance and support of national, state, and local health officials to ensure the continued health and well-being of our school community.
School and Work Attendance
Students who provide written documentation from their healthcare provider advising them to refrain from attending school due to the Coronavirus will be fully accommodated in accordance with Henry County BOE Policy JBD – Absences and Excuses. Families of these students should coordinate with their school’s administration for additional guidance.
For all other students, normal school attendance policies remain in effect.
Employees not reporting to work due to symptoms and concerns surrounding the Coronavirus must provide written documentation from their healthcare provider. The district will continue to enforce Henry County BOE Policy GARH – Employee Leaves and Absences.
Enrollment of New Students
Families attempting to enroll a student from areas with a Level 3 or 4 Travel Health Notice advisory for COVID-19, as identified by the CDC and/or the US Department of State, should contact Family & Students Support Services by telephone
Phone: 770-957-6601
Cleaning of School Facilities
Our cleaning service provider continues to utilize products confirmed by the manufacturer to kill Human Coronavirus and other germs/viruses. Our district operations will continue to clean and disinfect schools and facilities in alignment with guidance from the CDC. Directions have been given to provide adequate supplies of soap and paper towels for students and employees to use.
Remote Learning
Henry County Schools has a continuity plan to ensure the learning does not stop in the event the Department of Public Health recommends a school closure. Staff members stand ready to assist students virtually if the need arises. For students with district-issued Chromebooks, we encourage the transport of these devices home each night to allow for easy access in the event that school operations are canceled for an extended period of time. We also urge students and families to clean the devices to prevent the spreading of any germs or viruses. For our K-2 learners, teachers are preparing learning resources for easy distribution for at-home study.
A schedule of remote operations will be provided by each school to families which details the contact information and availability of district and school staff.
