One of the absolute highlights of our Alaska cruise was visiting the Hubbard Glacier. The captain of our cruise ship, the Holland America Amsterdam, did a nice job navigating the ship close to the terminus of the massive 7 mile-wide glacier. We were able to get quite a few clips of the Hubbard Glacier calving as well. It was typically accompanied by a rumbling sound.
The icy glacial waters of Disenchantment Bay Alaska that our cruise ship traversed was surreal with chunks of ice of various sizes & shapes that intensified their presence as we got closer to the glacier, passing Haenke Island. The surroundings were beautiful, and we had nice views of the Valerie Glacier as well. The cruise ship in the distance was the Island Princess by Princess Cruises, and was waiting for our ship to leave so she & her guests can get closer for a nice look. Finally our ship left back into Yakuta Bay.
This video is in 4K UHD resolution, and is from our 2017 June Alaska cruise. Enjoy!
