Some of my favorite recordings of all time are the ones Los Compadres made between 1949 and 1952 when Compay Segundo was part of the group. Of course Compay plays an instrument he himself invented called the 'Armónico' which is tuned like a guitar but up an octave and has a doubled G string. It's played very much like the Tres being the lead melodic musical voice in the group. I have adapted what Compay plays on 'Sarandonga' to suit the Tres.

For the tutorial I am tuned to C and capo'd on the second fret. You'll notice of you play along with the recording that the tuning is a bit sharp. It's very common in older recordings for the groups to simply tune off each other, so here they are a bit south of standard tuning. When I was transcribing it I had my tuner set to 431hz.
