More info about the Patreon page I launched November 2021! TLDR: Patreon is like a virtual tip jar for artists/creators. I am creating and sharing monthly demos (home recorded original songs) as well as weekly ramblings (in the form of voice memos, journal entries, & poems). Currently you can join for $3 or $7 per month, though the tiers offer the same perks and so you can essentially name your own price. Thanks to those who have already subscribed and I’m looking forward to this journey with y’all! Patreon funds will help us fund our next round of studio recordings and make the process more sustainable. We will also continue to post non-exclusive content online available to all and play shows when it feels safer/feasible again—thank you for supporting us in whatever ways you do :)

[Video Transcript:] Hi, I’m Maddie Batzli and I’m really excited to share that I’m starting a Patreon! I release music under the artist name LINE, and some of that music is just me, solo; most of it is with my lovely bandmates.
One of the core philosophies driving my creative work is my belief that creativity is the heart of human connection. I write from personal experience but I share with the belief that any experience that we have as humans is not something that we have in isolation. I know this from—I think we’ve all listened to a song and seen ourselves in it, and so I write with that feeling of connectedness and I share with the goal of creating community around those emotions and processing those things together.
Also I believe a core element of creativity includes innovation. To me, innovation and community together means creating representation, and I know that there are more queer artists out there within the past few years than ever before which is so amazing, for folks to see themselves represented. But I also think there could always be more, and in particular, women and non-binary people in music production and in electronic music. we need a lot more representation with that, and that’s an area that I’m trying to grow in and work on myself.
I want to talk a little bit more about what Patreon is and why I’m starting one. Patreon is a subscription-based platform where folks who are making stuff create content on either a monthly basis, or at whatever rate they want to, and then [other] folks can subscribe to their Patreon to get those creations. I’ll be making monthly demos. For me they are going to be home recorded songs, sometimes acoustic, sometimes including electronic elements.
Basically I write a lot more than what I’m able to share. So I’m really frequently working on songs and trying to record them, or just spend more time arranging them and figuring out what they’re going to be in their final form. That’s really one of the most fun parts of the creative process for me and I want to be spending more time in that process of actually just making new art. And I want to be sharing what I’m working on with folks. I love playing live and I love playing with my band, and also going to the studio and recording. But I want to be able to continue doing all of this things more sustainably, and moving towards spending more of my time doing what I love, which is making music and sharing it with folks. I’m hoping that this will be a space for experimentation and vulnerability but also just connecting as a community.
Thank you for watching this and thank you for joining me on this journey, I’m really excited!
