LARGEST and MOST MODERN tank factory of Germany - Nibelungenwerke (Home of the Jagdtiger)
Nibelungenwerke was the largest and most modern tank factory in Germany. The Austrian Sankt Valentine is a small farming village whose population did not exceed 2,000 inhabitants by the beginning of the war. It was here that the Nibelungenwerke factory was located, which created almost 5,000 German tanks and self-propelled guns.
There had been plans dating back to 1939 to build an armaments plant in Lower Austrian community of Sankt Valentin, which was conveniently located at a railway junction.
Steyr, began to build a large tank factory capable of producing up to 150 vehicles per month. "Nibelungenverke" consisted of nine workshops, each of which approached the railway line, next to which there was a platform for trials of machines.
