On this day almost half of century ago (25.03.1972) our beloved Deep Purple released a groundbreaking album "Machine Head" at the height of their most notable Mk2 line up (Gillan, Blackmore, Lord, Glover, Paice). During their most difficult writing session in December of 1971, after a well organized plan from Claude Nobs (a man who invented "Montreux Jazz Festival") a complete chaos broke losse at Montreux Casino in Switzerland, where Frank Zappa was playing a matinee show. Although story has been told million times so far, the climax of an awful evening produced lyrics for one the most notable rock songs ever made, of course we're talking about "Smoke On The Water", which was the final track made for M.Head and became (to this day) their most recognizable hit.
But in those days of early '72 just before the release of M.Head, the band recorded some video clips during their concert at the Croydon's Fairfield Hall on March the 12th, two weeks before the release, and made a montage video for a song that the whole band thought to be the next "Strange Kind of Woman" type of promotional single.
As we know nowadays this "album gem" is considered to be an album "deep-cut" for hardcore fans.
