The Feldenkrais hug is a great way to teach your horse to give at the poll. It is the beginning of lateral flexions. If your horse trusts you enough and releases his head into your hand, you can even ask him for both directions. Note that I am not pulling his hand around it is a still suggestion and he follows my invitations. This only works if he releases any tensions in the poll.
