Following Amini's murder, Iranians took to Twitter to express their grief. Many of them blamed the country's religious leadership for the present social, economic, and political issues.
Shervin Hajipour, whose viral song became the anti-government protest anthem in Iran, has been imprisoned and his whereabouts are unknown.
It was also unclear what accusations had been lodged against the teenage performer, according to news website Radio Farda.
Hajipour shared the emotional song on Instagram a few days before his detention on September 29, reflecting the current scenario in the Islamic Republic, which was precipitated by the murder of Mahsa Amini while in the custody of the morality police.
