This week we continue PLA material experiement and get down to test those PLA preform that we have injected last month, on our blowing machine to see how is quality of its actual product.

We made a simple blowing mold to fit its preform neck, and tried it on a most common semi automatic blowing machine in our factory. To our delight, the result of PLA experiement turned out to be a success. As we see in the video, PLA preform can be blown into bottle very easily. And it has quite nice transparency, even better than Polypropylene. The original preform mold we used is designed with very thick wall for medicine, if made thinner and lighter just like those for daily 500 ml water bottle, we can imagine the bottle shall be even more beautiful with good transparency. Another thing we observed is that the heating temperature should be much lower than PET preform. Because it can easily get melt and soften when over heated, resulting in destortion of bottle neck.
