I've obviously missed a few things
(Listening to the radio in the bunker)
(Getting the good dog ending)
But this is nearly the best ending I've got, I might go through the game one more time to see what I've missed.
Steps to achieve the ending as far as I remember:
Complete the game once and collect the battery found somewhere in the ending cabin
(Had to start a new game and then lost the battery, which might've messed up the peter bit of the dialog at the end)
Before entering the forest and after grabbing the radio, search the sheriffs truck for Mrs Lanning's phone number, should be on the sun visor.
*DONT* collect any of the wooden figurines up until the ending cabin, which forces you to collect them.
[NOTE: For the last figurine you collect in the house (The red one) don't press anything else but [B] you character shouldn't break the figurine and the screen shouldn't go red.]
*DONT* destroy any of the totems that you come across (This might mess with the good dog ending though? I haven't bothered to check.)
*DONT* kill any of the monsters with the light, you will need to sneak past them using the night vision on the camera.
(You need to do this for most of the game, if you hear the music kick off or hear a loud bang, restore to a previous checkpoint)
[Note: You can run away from the monsters if you have to, but I suggest just restoring to the last save]
You should get the same ending as I did, depending on what you did you might have the dog walk away or stay with you.
The dialog at the end is achieved by:
Calling Mrs Lanning as soon as you uncover the Sheriffs body.
(You will receive a voicemail later on through the game from her)
[This should give you the same dialog I got at the end]
Call the VA (Veteran Affairs) Office when you discover the lumberjacks body.
(You will receive a message from the office later on through the game)
[This should give you the same dialog I got at the end]
Answer Jess or call her whenever you get the chance.
(This should give you an achievement for wrapping things up with Jess, however I still think you need to get the good ending.)
[This should give you the same dialog I got at the end]
Some things I might've missed:
Achieving the good dog ending which might change the ending a bit.
Listening to the radio in the bunker to learn about peters disappearance and NOT starting a new game, when you do.
(Sorry for any typos, I finished the game a 2nd time around 2 AM)
