The City of Carlsbad is in close communication with the agencies leading the clean-up effort to ensure Carlsbad's health, safety and environment are protected from the effects of the Orange County oil spill. The interagency team responding to the spill installed protective barriers in the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Oct. 7 out of an abundance of caution. Oil has not been detected off Carlsbad's coastline. Shoreline assessment teams are monitoring and testing areas from Oceanside to San Diego.
