Configure Hyper-V Virtual Machine Live Migration in Windows Server 2019
1. Prepare
- DC31 : Domain Controller(Yi.vn) | DC34 : Hyper-V Server(source), IP 10.0.0.34 | DC35 : Member Server(destination), IP 10.0.0.35
2. Step by step : Configure Hyper-V Virtual Machine Live Migration on DC34,DC35
- DC35 : Install Hyper-V and configure virtual switch
- DC31 : Configure trust Virtual Migration for DC34
+ Server Manager - Tools - Active Directory Users and Computers - Computers Container - Double-Click DC34 - Delegation tab
- Choose 'Trust this computer for delegation to specified services only' + 'Use any authentication protocol' - Add...
- Click 'Uses or Computers...' : DC35 - Choose 'Microsoft Virtual System Migration Service' - OK
- DC34 : Set up the source for live migration
+ Server Manager - Tools - Hyper-V Manager - Right-Click DC34 - Hyper-V Settings... - Live Migration :
+ Tick 'Enable incoming and outgoing live migrations' - Choose 'Use these IP addresses for live migration' - Add - IP Address : 10.0.0.35, 10.0.0.34
- DC35 : Set up the destination for live migration
+ Server Manager - Tools - Hyper-V Manager - Right-Click DC34 - Hyper-V Settings... - Live Migration :
+ Tick 'Enable incoming and outgoing live migrations' - Choose 'Use these IP addresses for live migration' - Add - IP Address : 10.0.0.35, 10.0.0.34
- DC34 : Move a running virtual machine named VM01 to DC35
+ Hyper-V Manager - DC34 - Right-Click VM01 - Move... - Choose Move Type : Choose 'Move the virtual machine' - Specify Destination
- Name: - Browse... : DC35 - Choose Move Options : Choose 'Move the virtual machine's data to a single location'
- Virtual Machine - Folder : - Browse... : E:\VM01 (or you want) - Select Folder - Finish
