The U.S. Military adopted a new primary service rifle in the 1960’s. The M16, XM16E1, and M16A1 were tested and adopted. They were designed with full auto capability, as suppresive fire and fire superiority on the battlefield was seen as highly important in a firefight.
With todays regulations in place, it makes it hard to obtain full auto firearms. Due to the laws, many of these historic and collectible weapons have to be mutilated to come into the country and then they are sold off as parts kits. Saving these historic pieces takes time, money and sweat. Even then, they have to be made so they can never be full auto again. That’s where a binary trigger can come into play, giving the weapon system similar characteristics to it’s orginal design.
