The song What a wonderful world was first recorded by Louis Armstrong in 1967. This song was composed by Bob Thiele and George David Weiss. It became famous after being part of Good Morning Vietnam in 1987.
A curiosity about the recording
The song was recorded after midnight because Armstrong was gigging at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, so he chose to record the song nearby at Bill Porter’s United Recording studio, just after his show. At 2 am the musicians were settled and the tape was rolling.
The lyrics talk about small things in daily life that make the difference, but sometimes we do not see them in our busy days. Looking at nature, people's relationships, and babies that become children and adults, convey us to reflect on what is the real value of life.

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself: What a wonderful world
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed days, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself: What a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands, saying: How do you do?
They're really saying: I love you!
I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more, than I'll never know
And I think to myself: What a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself: What a wonderful world
