Hi Everyone. It's Keith Carlock, here at Zildjian. I was asked about my warmup routines before a gig. I generally play with a lot of natural rebound in the sticks here. So I like to just kind of start by bouncing the stick on a pad, just doing single notes, just to get the blood flowing. Getting the fingers, which I use a lot of, working and feeling like the blood's flowing properly. And, it's not really about doing anything fast or fancy, that kind of stuff. And then Ill go into some doubles. Maybe some singles. Get my fingers limber and ready to go. And then I use a lot of this motion too, so it's just kind of a way to get things feeling good to play. That kind of stuff. Everything I play on one side I want to play on the other just to have both sides just as strong and warm. And I'll just do random rudimental exercises. Stuff from the drum-line days.
