In this drum lesson, I'll dissect and demonstrate a tasty groove by funk drumming master, Nate Smith. This groove uses a shaker instead of hi hi-hat and features syncopated offbeat snare accents. This hip drum beat is from the band The Fearless Flyers from their song "The Baal Shem Tov."

The hardest thing about this groove is getting used to playing a shaker instead of your hi-hat while you play a funky kick and snare groove.
