SANKOFA pronounced [SAHN-Koh-fah] is an Akan word that means "to retrieve" to literally go back and get. It is immortalised in the Sacred Adinkra symbol System of Ghana, as a mythical bird which looks back as its feet face forward, carrying a precious egg.

Join young Sankofa as he asks his beloved family members why they look backwards on his journey to find his own reasons to turn.
