The station was made famous as TV film thriller Hinterland was filmed at the station and in the surrounding areas. The station is on the Cambrian Line from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth; most trains run from and to Birmingham International.
For rail enthusiasts, and those who just enjoy the magnificent scenery of Wales and the rugged coastline, a journey well worth taking. Arriving in Aberystwyth there is a second train to catch, a Steam Engine on the Vale of Rheidol Railway running between Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge - the bridge at Devils Bridge also featured in Hinterland.
The Diesel Class 158 is a modern version (without the issues) of what many people call the 'Nodding Donkeys', early two carriage diesel trains that bounced up and down at the front as they travelled down the line - thus the nick name of the Class 142 trains. These trains were also thought to have also caused the driver a little discomfort, their seat directly over the engine with vibration felt through the floor.
