ASTRONAUT BREAKS AMERICAN SPACE RECORD
Space Natsot Duration: 1.25
American astronaut Norman Thagard recently broke the American endurance record for time in space of 84 days, one hour and 16 minutes. In a live satellite news conference from the Mir space station where he has lived and worked for the last three months, the 51-year-old physician stated that he felt great and was ready to spend even more time away from home. Thagard is also the first American to be launched in a Russian spacecraft. His mission is planned to last until the beginning of July...still a long way short of the Russian endurance record of more than a year.
