A recreation of how an ITV Schools junction may have looked way back in Autumn Term 1976.
Autumn 1976 was the first term that picture captions were used during intervals, as opposed to the earlier 'lightspots' captions. To the best of my knowledge this slide comes from that term and the winter theme suggests it was probably used quite late in the term.
The music here is Rustic Rigaudon, The Cuckoo Calls and Sister Monique, all by Leslie Pearson. Again, research shows that these tracks featured on the interval tape that term.
The programmes were chosen at random, and these episodes weren't necessarily broadcast that autumn. The programme finishing at the start of the clip is a Christmas episode of YTV's My World - so let's assume this is in fact the final week of the term. I actually watched My World at school that term - and from memory the 'jigsaw globe' titles and 'Free Life' theme tune were normally used - although some programmes were repeats, so it's quite possibly this episode made an encore appearance because of its Christmas theme. After the junction, an episode of Thames's Seeing and Doing begins - this opening sequence appears to have been in use that school year, and was still being shown on the occasional repeat episode as late as 1985!
The programmes were chosen at random - these episodes weren't
Many thanks to user RAX118G for the footage of the schools clock and Seeing and Doing titles.
