“Transition 3’s” trains your ability to take the ball coast to coast off the dribble and consistently knock down 3-point jump shots. Whether your defender loses you in transition, they’re playing off of you, or it’s a heat check, this is a quick way to get 3 points if you’re consistent enough with it. It is not the highest percentage of shot, but is a dangerous shot to add to your arsenal, and if proven effective forces defenders to find you early in transition, clearing the lane.
To-do:
2 spots. The right & left elbow extended. Start at half court. Dribble to the three-point line and pull up from 3. Retrieve your rebound and sprint to the opposite end. Repeat this process for 5 makes on the side and 5 makes on the left side.
Areas of focus:
Sprint to the ball; you don’t jog up the floor during a fast break (if you do you probably don’t get much playing time) so why do it here.
Set your feet; it’s easy to get your feet tangled trying to shoot after sprinting. Get your feet right.
Land balanced and hold your follow through.
