A live chat with endurance adventurer, author, and paddleboarder Fiona Quinn
Fiona became the first woman to complete a length of Britain triathlon in 2018, when she paddled her stand up paddleboard from Land's End to John o'Groats, having already walked and cycled the route.
Taking on her fear of the sea, as well as the demanding logistics of sourcing a boat, crew, and funding, she was joined by dolphins, paddled 40 miles across the Irish Sea, and battled past whirlpools to cover 800 miles up the length of Britain.
Her book about the trip, Ignore the Fear, is an inspiring and gripping account showing that no matter what the odds, if you dare to start before you’re ready and keep believing in yourself, anything is possible.
In this talk, Fiona talks about overcoming the obstacles to realise her ambition to undertake this feat of endurance, what she learnt along the way and how she developed a love of stand up paddleboarding
