8:23 TOP FEATURES FOR RAW-EDGE APPLIQUE & INTUITIVE SEWING (and Related Construction)
* FLATBED SET-UP
* TASK LIGHTING
* FMQ ABILITY (drop feed dogs & darning foot)
* AUTO NEEDLE UP/DOWN FUNCTION: The Trouble with It...
* DECORATIVE STITCHES (to zig-zag FMQ, etc.)
* STANDARD FEET PLUS an edger and that darning foot. [A walking foot is highly desirable, as is the ability to add more specialty feet.]
* EXTRA WIDE THROAT
* MULTIPLE NEEDLE POSITIONS - a wider zig-zag means wider satin stitching
ADVANCEMENTS: MOVE TO INDUSTRIAL SPEED & POWER
9:06 ACRYLIC EXTENSION TABLES.
9:56 FREE MOTION QUILTING CAPABILITY: Feed dogs and a darning foot.
11:22 MY MACHINE CAME WITH 7 FEET. I use the darning foot, zig-zag foot, and blind hem (edger) the most.
13:27 Sewing machine THROAT WIDTH.
13:44 STITCH WIDTH (zig-zag) is 4 mm
14:14 NEEDLE POSITIONS - there are 5. CORRECTION: In the video, I say my stitch width is 4 mm, but it is actually 4.5 mm.
14:47 AUTOMATIC NEEDLE UP/DOWN FUNCTION usually means a motherboard that you can crash with too many layers. This is an expensive fix that can be in the hundreds. Please do not use more layers than your machine can handle!!
16:43 COMING NEXT...A TUTORIAL SERIES inspired by this piece. Our project will be smaller. This one is about 48 x 36 inches.
17:04 ALSO STARTING SOON...a series where I challenge myself and share the process of making something that is significantly different from my habitual work in at least 4 or 5 ways...
