Santosh Saraf, MD, University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago, IL, discusses the role of antiphospholipid antibodies in sickle cell disease (SCD). These autoimmune antibodies are produced in response to disrupted cell membrane polarity and a pro-inflammatory state, exacerbating vascular damage and contributing to multiple organ failure.
