Representatives from the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, and from throughout the Kern River Valley gathered Oct. 25, 2016, for the groundbreaking ceremony for a new USFS administrative building and warehouse in Kernville, California. The ceremony marks the first construction project under the umbrella of the Isabella Lake Dam Safety Modification Project, which will address overtopping, seismic and seepage issues identified with the lake’s main and auxiliary dams to reduce the likelihood of dam failure.
