(23 Sep 2014) French President Francois Hollande held talks with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani in New York on Tuesday, as more than 100 leaders gathered for the annual United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
France is one of six world powers, along with the United States, Russia, China, Britain, and Germany, involved in a fresh round of nuclear talks with Iran.
The talks had been stalled for months over Iran's opposition to sharply reducing the size and output of centrifuges that can enrich uranium both to levels needed for reactor fuel or the core of nuclear warheads.
Iran says its enrichment programme is only for peaceful purposes, but Washington fears it could be used to make a bomb.
