"The King of Comedy" (1983) starred Robert Di Niro as a "wanna-be megalomaniacal nutcase" and Jerry Lewis as the late night network television talk show King, "Jerry Langford" in the tradition of Johnny Carson of "The Tonight Show" at the top of his game and TV ratings dominance. Enjoy this hilariously vicious clip where Jerry attempts a mid-day stroll on the packed sidewalks of mid-town Manhattan trying to be nonchalant, just minding his own business, but every 20 feet someone in the crowd or street is acknowledging his "God-like presence" hollering at him as if he's just "another one of us guys" who has nothing better to do than spending some time chatting with each of them! Near the end of his walk, Jerry encounters an old woman at a pay phone who's talking to her cancer-striken nephew in the hospital when she abruptly stops Jerry and asks if he would take the phone and say hello to her nephew. At this point, the clip speaks beautifully for itself! All Copyrights are property of their current owners and use of this media is strictly for non-profit entertainment purposes.
