In July 2011, PizzaExpress founder Peter Boizot (1929-2018) was in attendance as Jamie Cullum paid tribute to his friend Amy Winehouse, who had died just days before.
Jamie's first gigs were at a PizzaExpress restaurant in Swindon, where he was paid a handsome £50 fee! He appeared at the historic jazz club in Soho, London many times.
This concert was part of 'The Big Audition', a nationwide talent contest run by PizzaExpress. The night was the first time that a show was streamed from the venue on YouTube and Facebook, while Jamie's setlist was decided by his fans via Twitter.
