Dalam kunjungan ke Stasi Santo Petrus Labang, Uskup Keuskupan Tanjung Selor (KTS) Mgr. Dr. Paulinus Yan Olla, MSF disambut tarian di atas perahu.
Stasi Santo Petrus Labang adalah salah satu wilayah terluar di utara KTS. Stasi ini berbatasan langsung dengan Malaysia.
Labang merupakan wilayah pastoral Paroki Santa Maria Bunda Karmel, Mansalong, Nunukan, Kalimantan Utara.
Perjalanan ke tempat ini dari pusat Keuskupan yang berada di Tanjung Selor, memakan waktu sembilan jam.
Dari Keuskupan kita menempuh jalur darat selama kurang lebih lima jam hingga pusat paroki Mansalong, kemudian dilanjutkan melalui jalur sungai dengan perahu mesin atau long boat selama empat jam.
Medan yang tidak mudah dan jarak yang jauh menjadi tantangan tersendiri bagi reksa pastoral di wilayah KTS, khususnya paroki Mansalong.
Namun demikian, umat stasi Labang dapat dikatakan telah menghidupi slogan “100% Katolik, 100% Indonesia”. Hal ini nampak dari warga di sini yang 100% beragama Katolik.
Di tempat ini juga telah dibangun PLBN Terpadu, Indonesia-Malaysia. Dibutuhkan waktu 15-30 menit untuk tiba kampung pertama di Malaysia, yaitu kampung Bantul.
Kampung ini hanya berjarak dua jam perjalanan darat dari pusat kota Keningau, Sabah, Malaysia.
Uskup KTS Mgr. Dr. Paulinus Yan Olla, MSF menyampaikan bahwa perayaan di tempat ini menjadi jawaban kerinduan umat akan lawatan pastoral KTS.
Selain itu, melalui perayaan-perayaan iman seperti ini diharapkan dapat terbangun solidaritas, kesatuan dan penguatan iman umat di wilayah KTS hingga ke pedalaman. Hal ini senada dengan tema umum 100 tahun KWI di atas.
