When India began its "unique ID" project in 2010, the hope was that millions of Indians who don't have a passport, driver's license or other credible identity document would get one—finally providing a recognized resource for government and private sector services.
A new survey led by Carlson School of Management professor, Ravi Bapna, and NYU Stern School professor, Arun Sundararajan, answers whether the program is targeting the demographic it intended to, and highlights which states are signing up people at the fastest pace.
