Nataraja is a representation of the Hindu god Shiva as the ecstatic cosmic dancer. His dance is called Tandavam or Nadanta, depending on the context of the dance. The posture and work of art are described in many Hindu texts, such as the agama Anshumadbhed and Uttarakamika, the relief of dance or the idol presented in the main Hindu temples of Shaivism.
