This past October, the entire state of West Virginia was designated as meeting all of the U.S. EPA’s health-based National Ambient Air Quality Standards for the first time since 1978, when the EPA made their initial nonattainment designations under the 1970 Clean Air Act. West Virginia is one of only 16 states to reach this milestone.
