AITJ for causing my parents to divorce after telling my mom that I caught dad cheating?
I am an only child, but my dad always wanted more kids. But my mom got traumatized after giving birth to me. My dad initiated to adopt, but my mom said it is not theirs. So it was just me. He is a loving dad and I understand his frustrations because my mom requires her to be at her work most of the time. Unlike my dad who owns a mechanic shop downtown.
They have been going through rough years until I moved out for college. I visited for Christmas and asked to borrow the computer to print something for school. Closing the tabs, I didn't mean to snoop his inbox when I saw emails of my dad between someone else who I ended up knowing it was not friendly emails. It was more than that. It was Mom's friend.
I jumped out of the seat and called my mom to come to the room. I don't know what I was thinking, but I showed her the emails. Dad came home and it was a war zone. I left that night and didn't want to be in the middle of it. I felt bad. But what's worse is when my dad texted a few hours later saying, "Mom wants a divorce" and that he is thanking me for doing that because he have been unhappy for many years.
I don't know if my dad said that to make me feel better, but am I the asshole for saying the truth?
