A precocious teenager (Seberg) admiringly but heedlessly adopts the sybaritic ways of her widowed father—a shallow playboy. Their hedonistic life is threatened when a "woman of substance” (Kerr) enters into their incestuously codependent twosome. Based on the acclaimed 1954 novel by 18-year-old Françoise Sagan, the film adaptation is directed by Otto Preminger and stars David Niven and Mylene Demongeot.
