It's Monday and you know what that means - New Week, New Theme! This week we're going to tackle something that unfortunately still creeps its head and surfaces in the teachings of some academic settings. "Don't use Black!" It's almost like a warning sign, danger ahead! Hazardous! In today's video we're going to try and make sense of the reasons behind the propagation of this argument and reflect upon why today, some 120 yrs after the color theories that advised against the use black pigment, we still find pockets of painting instruction echoing this (mis?)direction. For today's painting we acknowledge the cool almost blue nature of Ivory Black (specially when mixed with the very cool titanium white) and we see what happens when we replace the blue hue in a primary color palette with this wonderful black pigment.
