My First Solo Adventure

In this episode I try and make my way from Glasbury to Hay on Wye and find myself in the cold and refreshing river for the first time.

I have been on many holidays and seen many countries throughout the years. However I have never embarked on a journey like this before and certainly never considered doing something like this on my own.

At the age of 42 I have decided to make some changes in my life. Having moved out of London some time ago, I have grown fonder and fonder of spending time in nature, water or ideally both at the same time. That added to the fact that I love a challenge!

On this trip there were many unplanned issues. To be honest the whole trip was pretty unplanned, but that’s just how I like to roll. The route starting on the River Wye at Glasbury and finishing as far as I could get in two and a half days. Armed with an inflatable paddle board, hammock, tarpaulin, stove, first aid kit and a cool box which came in very handy as a seat!! I set off to Wales after work on Friday and got around 4 hours paddling in on that day. This in turn left me a huge journey on day two and three that really pushed me to my limits.

The unpredictability of the river Wye’s depth paired with the beauty of Wales was quite the combination. Along the way I got to meet some lovely locals, some of whom assisted me when the going got tough and also managed to film some beautiful scenery.

I hope this video gives you some insight as to what to expect if you plan on taking on this epic journey.
