The Seiko Prospex 'Save The Ocean' SPB333J1 Watchmaking 110th Anniversary Limited Edition is a truly magnificent model that helps marks the 110th anniversary of Seiko watchmaking. This amazing pedigree has helped produced a phenomenal watch, that embraces all the qualities Seiko is renowned for. Not in the least with that amazing dial that is made to resemble polar glaciers (you would expect no less from a company that produces one of the most praised dials with the Grand Seiko Snowflake).
The SPB333J1 has a very comfortable wrist presence with its 41mm diameter, while also having a very reasonable 12.3mm thickness and 46.9mm lug to lug distance. This ensures it will also fit a smaller wrist than you'd expect, especially with the clever crown placement at 4 o'clock. Both the case and bracelet have a super hard coating to help prevent scratches.
Under the hood is the in-house Seiko Cal. 6R35 movement. This sturdy workhorse features an impressive 70 hour power reserve. Of course the watch is also very capable of dealing with water, due to the 200m water resistance.
The Seiko SPB333J1 is a special model that is limited to just 5000 pieces and comes with an extra Seichu strap. It may look like a normal canvas nato strap, but it's made from recycled polyester and braided in a traditional Japanese fashion.
All in all, one can only imagine what the 220th anniversary watch will be like with such massive steps in 110 years, but for now you can enjoy this remarkable celebration of Japanese horology with the SPB333J1.
