President Biden signed the CHIPS Act into law on Tuesday.
The $280 billion package to boost the semiconductor industry and scientific research in the US is a major step for Intel and its planned $20 billion semiconductor manufacturing facility in Licking County.
A few people from Columbus will be heading to the White House for the signing, including Steve Stivers.
Stivers is a former Congressman and is now the leader of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.
Columbus State President David Harrison will be joining him.
Columbus State is part of a new partnership, coordinating in response to Intel moving into Licking County.
The following schools are working together to prepare students to work and conduct research in computer chip manufacturing.
Columbus State
Ohio State University
Wright State University
University of Dayton
8 other midwest schools
The CHIPS Act also sets the stage for more investment as Intel looks to build potentially as many as eight factories here.
