The crank test is used to evaluate for glenoid labrum tears. The examiner places one hand on the elbow, proximal hand on the shoulder. The examiner abducts the shoulder to somewhere between 90 and 160 degrees. They then place an axial load at the elbow and apply internal and external rotation. A positive test is pain or clicking sensation.
