Quick tip, if you just got a BMPCC 6K, Pro or G2 please make sure to download/update to the latest version (18 in Beta as of now) of the DaVinci Resolve, since the 17th version won't see the 6K files.
Inside the box you will find a welcome brochure, a sticker, an activation key for DaVinci Resolve Studio, international adapters for the power supply, the power supply itself, with a locking mechanism, a battery, a strap, a battery charger and a micro USB to USB cable for the battery charger. I do like the tilting feature of the 5” touchscreen display, makes it easier to film. It can tilt up up to 90 degrees & down for about 45. It seems sharper than the 4K one and I like slightly improved design on the menu, the darker grey and rounded corners make it look more elegant
It has 2 XLR mic lines with phantom power, matching the 6K Pro version
The super 35 HDR sensor makes all the difference when you are shooting with a shallow depth of field. Looking forward to trying this out, and comparing it with 4K camera that comes with 4/3 size sensor.
You can shoot up to 60 fps In 6K, or up to 120 fps in HD
The 13 stops of dynamic range with dual native ISO up to 25,600 should provide stunning low noise images in all lighting conditions
Just like on 4K version you have 3 storage options: CFast, SD card, or external SSD via USB-C
It took under 3 seconds to boot up just like 4K
Just like the 6K Pro model 6K G2 comes with a bigger battery, with approximately 1 hour runtime on one charge. You can also get a battery grip and add 2 more, for a total of 3 hours
When you place the 6K G2 next to the 4K you can see the size difference, it’s taller & deeper by 1”, but it is pretty much the same in width
It is also twice heavier, with a bigger hand grip, a bit too big for my hand
If needed, you can attach viewfinder for the 6K G2, which is pretty pricey $495. It also comes with 2 mounting threads
Here is the summary of the pros & cons that I’ve noticed.
I do recommend getting one of the Blackmagic packet cinema cameras! Which one to get: 4K, 6K G2 or a 6K Pro depends on what features you need for your projects.
